Dangote juga dikenal sebagai miliarder terkaya di Afrika berkat total kekayaannya yang mencapai US$ 25 miliar.

Seperti dikutip dari Leadership.ng, Rabu (12/3/2014), dia berhasil menduduki peringkat ke-23 sebagai orang terkaya di dunia berkat bisnis semen, gula dan terigu yang dijalaninya. Dangote memiliki 93% saham di Dangote Cement senilai US$ 19,5 miliar.

Dia juga mengelola saham terbesar di Dangote Sugar serta memiliki sejumlah saham di National Salt Company of Nigeria. Tak hanya itu, dia juga menjadi pemilik saham di sejumlah perusahaan besar seperti Zenith Bank, UBA Group dan Dangote Flour.

Lewat berbagai usaha yang dijalankannya, pria berusia 56 ini mampu meraup kekayaan yang jauh lebih banyak dibandingkan milik orang terkaya di Rusia, Alisher Usmanov. Dangote juga jauh lebih mapan dibandingkan orang terkaya India, Lakshmi Mittal.

Tak hanya itu, dia mampu mengejar total kekayaan para miliarder ternama asal Amerika Serikat (AS) seperti Larry Page dan Sergey Brin. Melonjaknya harga saham Dangote Cement menjadi salah satu pemicu meingkatnya kekayaan pria berkulit hitam tersebut.

Dangote pertama kali menembus daftar miliarder terkaya versi Forbes pada 2008 dengan total kekayaan sebesar US$ 3,3 miliar. Sementara itu, dalam setahun terakhir hingga saat ini, Dangote telah berhasi meningkatkan kekayaannya hingga 30%.

Dangote memang terkenal memiliki bakat bisnis yang kuat. Sejak usia 8 tahun dia telah menjual gula. Maklum, ayahnya Mohammed Dangote merupakan pengusaha sukses yang didirikan bersama pamannya.

Saat ini, bisnis semennya telah melahirkan perusahaan terbesar di Afrika. Tentu saja prestasi yang berhasil dicapainya membuat dia sangat percaya diri.

Dia bahkan mengatakan dapat mencetak total kekayaan hingga US$ 60 miliar dalam lima tahun ke depan.
